Canton - Franklin L Hess, 86, of Canton, passed away at 5:05 pm, Monday, January 3, 2022 at the Sunset Manor Nursing Home in Canton. He was born on March, 18, 1935 in Canton Illinois to Walter and Mildred (Hollenback) Hess. He Married JoAnn Archdale on March 16, 1957 in Palmyra, MO. She preceded him in death on November 5, 2017. Also preceding him in death were his parents and one brother Walter Hess. Frank is survived by his daughter Rhonda Howard and granddaughters Jennifer and Kimberly Howard and son-in-law Edward Howard. He was beloved in the community by many. He loved being helpful and holding conversations with whoever would listen. He enjoyed Thursday morning breakfasts with friends at the Elm Street Cafe. He was known as the founder of the Silver Gloves boxing organization for Children which began in the 1970's. He and his late wife, JoAnn Hess were very involved in the organization which is currently in all 50 states today. Franklin had a love of community which is one thing that drew him to creating the boxing organization.

Graveside services will be held at a later date, to be announced. Oaks-Hines Funeral Home and Crematory are in charge of arrangements.
